Brian Thomas is an Emmy Nominee & Award-Winning Director, Filmmaker, and Celebrity Choreographer with a career spanning over three decades in television, film, and live performance.
At the age of 22, Brian made the bold decision to chase his dreams of becoming a professional dancer. He moved to NYC in '92 and trained at the world-renowned Broadway Dance Center. It took him only two years to become one of Michael Jackson's principal dancers for the 1995 MTV Music Awards. Over the next 10 years he danced and choreographed for television and other icons like Whitney Houston, Pink, Alicia Keys, Usher, Liza Minnelli, Jason Derulo, Mary J, Mya, Ricky Martin, Tamia, and ultimately choreographing his dream show—the Michael Jackson 30th Anniversary Special, a project that earned him an Emmy Nomination.
His passion for visual storytelling expanded into directing and filmmaking, leading to his first feature documentary film, Amy's Victory Dance. The film won numerous awards and secured distribution on Amazon Prime, Delta Airlines, and many other streaming platforms today. He also spent over a decade working on Sesame Street, earning Emmy Recognition for his contributions to the series.
Equally dedicated to the next generation of dancers, Brian has shared his expertise as a master teacher and guest instructor at some of the most prestigious dance institutions in the country, including Broadway Dance Center, Steps on Broadway, the Edge in LA, and many other studios worldwide. Drawing directly from his experience working alongside Michael Jackson, his masterclasses offer students a rare, behind-the-scenes perspective on movement, performance, and the art of connecting with an audience.
He currently is working in New York focusing on his production company, SpinKick Pictures, serving artists and corporate clients.
