Sweet Danney Brown is a short documentary in which gay filmmaker Brian Thomas returns home to small-town Michigan to interview his former uncle, Steve, a hot-tempered Navy veteran, trucker, and deer hunter, who in his 60's came out as Aunt Danney after nearly taking her own life. Through intimate interviews, Danney shares her story of a violent father, decades of hiding, and the peace she found living as herself. A film about late-life transition, rural queer family, and choosing to live.
